After mass we took the subway in to Boston. That was an experience all in itself. First even though we had a GPS location and written directions, we couldn't find the subway station. Finally talked to a AAA tow truck driver that pointed us to an unmarked parking lot and an unmarked subway entrance. What fun. Couldn't figure out how to get a subway ticket until a very helpful subway agent helped us get a card and get it loaded with enough money for our trip to/from Boston. Hurray, it's 9:30 in Boston on a Sunday, it's raining like crazy and nothing is open except of course STARBUCKS. Guess who had to have a cup of coffee? We headed for Faneuil Hall to snag something for breakfast. We found an Irish pub called the Black Rose. I had a traditional Irish breakfast with grilled blood sausage. Actually very tasty. Mom had scrambled eggs and potatoes. After breakfast we made our way through a bicycle race back to the subway so we could get back to the car and get on our way to Kittery Maine.
Even though we had our GPS and maps, many times on our way to Kittery we felt like we were lost. We purposely drove to the ocean shore in New Hampshire (even though it was raining) to see the Atlantic Ocean. Amazing, beautiful new and old mansions along Hampton Beach, NH. Finally found our way to Kittery, checked in at our cabin at the Northeaster Motel and then headed for an amazing boiled lobster dinner at the Chauncey Pier Lobster Pond. Rustic but fun. BYOB.
