Uneventful drive from Kittery to Portland. Nice turnpike, very few drivers on the road. We went to Becky's Diner in Portland for breakfast. We split a lobster omelet and blueberry pancakes. Both were fantastic. Very fresh lobster and huge pancakes with fresh blueberries. Boy could we do that again.
We then headed to Portland Head lighthouse at Cape Elizabeth in Portland. Beautiful Atlantic ocean views with crashing waves.
Then we drove to Freeport, ME where the main L.L. Bean store is located. It is also home to 200 outlet stores of all kinds, spread all over the rather small town. L.L. Bean was interesting but the clothes are much better at REI.
Then on to Wiscasset, ME (a pretty long drive) so Mom could have a lobster roll at Red's Eats that she had been waiting for since the trip started. What a yummy lunch a lobster roll makes.
Drove back to Portland, went out to a rather ho hum fish and chips dinner and then crashed for the night.
The weather up to this point in the trip has been very Summer-like.
