This is the start of our 2011 Eastern Caribbean cruise on Holland America's MS Eurodam.
Shuttle Express was right on time and got us to SeaTac by 4:00 for our 6:00AM flight. Checked in 1 big bag ($25.00 on Delta) and each of us had 1 wheelie bag and a carryon bag.
Had breakfast (if you can call it that) at Wendys. Try that at 4:15AM. Luckily Starbucks was open that early.
Then run, run, run, off to the tram to get to the 'S' gates where Delta's gates are at SeaTac. The plane to Atlanta was a Boing 757 with little legroom. Mike sat by the window and hoped the flight would go fast. The 'complimentary' peanuts OR pretzels OR cookie and Coke that came during the flight were bypassed. Fortunately the 757 has a video entertainment system that kept us occupied (bring your own earphones).
We finally reached the Atlanta airport. It is a very boring airport. I had a Starbucks to help me wake up. We then went to "Paschal’s Southern Cuisine" for lunch. Each of us had a southern fried chicken plate (what else would you have?). Luckily it came with sweet corn w/peppers and corn bread because the chicken was very hohum. Mike got a peach cobbler but it wasn't good at all. Hopefully 'real' southern food is better than what we had. Oh well, on to the Fort Lauderdale airport.
The Fort Lauderdale airport is very big, like a huge city, but of course we rushed through it like we were on fire. We got our bags and after a half an hour wait, we got a shuttle to the motel, arriving at 8:00PM EST. We were too tired to care about dinner so we just crashed for the night, hoping for something better on the days to come.
