Day 15, October 13, Boston to Seattle

Goodbye Braintree Sheraton hotel. Pretentious dud.

Sharon was excited to get to the airport because she had read that they have lots of shopping and nice restaurants. Turns out those are all in Terminal B. Southwest, in their haste to get flights into Boston apparently agreed to use Terminal E. If you've never been to Logan International, Terminal E is where all the international flights come in. All international and Southwest. No shops except a duty free store that we couldn't shop at and a stupid Borders book store. Lame food counters. Boy, what a letdown. Huge place and probably lots of people milling around when international flights are getting ready to leave or come in but otherwise almost totally empty.

We had breakfast sandwiches and Sharon had a venti coffee for breakfast. Sharon was able to snag a decent Boston sweatshirt from a Hudson News store. After hauling around the luggage for 2 weeks, it was nice to finally get in line for the airplane. I'm glad we paid for the Early Bird check in. We got right to the front of the line and except for pre-boarders we were able to select decent front seats. The flight was overbooked but left on time and got into Chicago on time.

We only had a 30 minute stopover in Chicago so we grabbed a couple prepackaged sandwiches and got back in line for the flight to Seattle. This flight was full too but we got good front seats again and settled in for the 4 1/2 hour flight home. I finally got to watch the Gran Turino movie I had recorded before the trip and Sharon finished her library book that was due when we got home.

Lots of "important" things didn't get done on our journey. No matter how much you research and promise to go to all the places on your list, you never seem to have enough time to get it all in. Maybe next time.

But what a fun time we had on this journey. We saw lots of places we had never seen before, ate food the likes of which we had never eaten before and most of all had a wonderful time with Nick and Corre in New York.
