Since we were carless, we took a taxi from the hotel to the train ($12 for 1 1/2 mile ride). After the train ride and 2 subway rides, we made it to the bus terminal where at least 6 different companies offer inexpensive rides to various places on the East coast. We had a quick donut and orange juice before we left. We took the Boltbus and we're very glad we did. Other than the fact that you have to line up and get a seat the same way Southwest Airlines does, everything went smoothly. The buses they use are brand new, very clean inside and offer decent wifi during the ride. We happened to sit in a seat that didn't have an AC outlet but most other seats did. The driver was very efficient, smooth and safe. The ride to 34th street and 8th ave in Manhattan took about 3 1/2 hours.
Since we were a bit early, Nick and Corre were still at work so we went to the Tick Tock Diner and had a piece of pie (me) and chocolate mousse cake (Sharon) while we waited. Corre works very close to the diner and she dropped by for a visit. Then shortly after she left, Nick rode his bike from his work to meet us. We bought our weekly subway passes and headed out on the C train to Brooklyn while Nick headed out on his bike. When we got to their apt we thought we had beat him because his bike was not around and neither was he. About 10 minutes later he called us and said that he had beaten us by 15 minutes (I don't know how he does it, riding through some of the craziest traffic you've ever seen) and he had just changed from his ride. He came down, unlocked the doors and we trudged up the 3 flights of stairs to their apt.
After Corre got home from work, we went out to dinner at Flatbush Farm (restaurant) in the Barn (part of the restaurant but next door). Had a yummy dinner and drinks and walked home.
Yet another fun but exhausting day.
