Before we left Portland we just had to go to Becky's Diner again for breakfast. Both of us had the delicious blueberry pancakes for breakfast and left completely stuffed and satisfied.
The long drive from Portland to Burlington is beautiful, going through forests of gorgeous color this time of year. About halfway through, we went to a town called Upper Conway Village. Very quaint little town (touristic but very nice). We bought coats and Sharon got a pair of shoes because the weather was turning cold and predicted very cool and rainy through later parts of the trip. Outside Conway is a park called Crawford Gap State Park. Lovely colors and streams. Very photogenic. I'm going to have to rework some of my pics before I can post them (due to operator error) but we do have a few that will give you an idea of the Fall season in New England. On our way out of the park we came across the Mount Washington Resort. It looked like a castle so we thought we'd stop and take a look at their gift shop. We didn't go in because they wanted to charge us $10 to park in the parking lot and look at the gift shop. Blah.
Before we got to Burlington we went to the Ben and Jerry's factory in Vermont. They weren't making ice cream that day, of course, so the tour was kind of useless. We had ice cream cones (I had sorbet) for lunch that day.
On to Burlington. It sits on Lake Champlain and reminds us of Bellingham. Four colleges call Burlington home. We had dinner at a quaint little Italian restaurant called the Three Tomatoes. The evening was brisk but nice. We're having a great time but I'm rather anxious about going to Montreal tomorrow.
